  Structural and functional brain connectomics has recently emerged as a new subfield of neuroscience. However, one major barrier to human brain connectomics is the lack of quantitatively encoded representation of common structural and functional brain architectures that can be precisely replicated across populations and individuals. This barrier has posed a significant limit to the comparison and validation of brain connectivity mapping results for years. This talk will present recent research efforts in the Cortical Architecture Imaging and Discovery (CAID) Lab of the University of Georgia that aim to develop common and individualized structural and functional brain connectomes. Two representative works of DICCCOL (Dense Individualized and Common Connectivity-based Cortical Landmarks) and HAFNI (Holistic Atlases of Functional Networks and Interactions) systems and their applications in cognitive and clinical neurosciences will be discussed.
  刘天明教授,是美国佐治亚大学杰出研究教授和终身正教授,西北工业大学“长江学者”讲座教授,还任职于美国佐治亚大学生物图像研究中心(BIRC)、生物信息研究所(IOB)、生物医学与健康科学研究所(BHSI)和神经科学博士学位评定委员会等。他本科和硕士毕业于西北工业大学,博士毕业于上海交通大学,曾是美国宾夕法尼亚大学博士后、美国哈佛大学博士后、美国哈佛大学讲师、美国康奈尔大学助理教授、英国剑桥大学访问教授。荣获美国国家自然科学基金职业生涯奖(NSF CAREER Award),美国国立卫生研究院职业生涯奖(NIH Career Award)和微软亚洲研究院微软学者称号等。
